I have a Sarah who was known as Sissy but we think it was because she was the baby sister in the family.

I know of two occasions where Cissie was a pet name for 'Margaret' - but can't see the reasoning behind it. But someone else was a 'Cissie' because she was the only daughter along with numerous male children - I suppose it was short for 'sister'. Hazel

It could also be a term for "sister".

I had a great aunt, all I had ever known her as was Cissie. Everyone that could have answered this in the family are long gone and I would really like to try and find her. Any clues? UPDATE! It was short for Elizabeth.
