What do the Marriage & Divorce records contain?

Find out about your ancestor's marriage or divorce. Our easy to use search box at the top of the page lets you search within all our Marriages & Divorces records to find your elusive ancestors.

All you need to do is type in a surname to get started. To narrow down your search you can add a forename or the year the event took place. You can search up to ten years either side of that year if you don't know exactly when it happened. In the keywords box you could add a place or the forename or surname of the spouse.

Our records include the fully indexed marriage records for England and Wales from July 1837 to 2005. When you are searching these records we will even try and find the spouse for you, making your search nice and easy.

This collection also includes marriages from our Parish records collection. You can choose which collection you'd like to view by selecting it from the column on the left hand side of the page.
