A thread for ALL Londoners I thought it may be a good idea , if somebody wanted to ask a question about London areas. I know North London well, but not so hot on South, may help us all. Perhaps write a bit about the area you came/come from. I know a lot of people get confused as to what part there ancestors came from. If you still live there it may be a help to others researching that area. Lynda

Hiya !! Born in Perivale, but lived elsewhere most of my life - although I did mis-spend a lot of my youth in North and West London. Rellies came from Chelsea, Hammersmith, Notting Hill and Clerkenwell mostly. Rick.

95% of my rellies came from Central and North London (Camden area) and I lived for 16 years in South London, Clapham Common, Streatham and Wimbledon then Wallington before I moved down here. I still have family in North London. Sheila

I was born in north west London. Actually N.W.2. Nearest school Braintcroft, in Crest Road. Secondary Modern school at Neasden was Wykeham School. Nearest shops were at Neasden, with Cricklewood being second nearest. For larger shops Kilburn. I know the district quite well as I was always cycling around the area. In Neasden they have built a large Indian temple now. I think I read that Ken Livingstone lives in Cricklewood. Our nearest underground station was Neasden, which in my days was on the Bakerloo Line, but I think that has all changed now. At the top of my road we had Gladstone Park and at the bottom the Welsh Harp (a lake). I have walked to Wembley from my house. I have family dotted around Hendon, Burnt Oak, Colindale, Willesden.

Hi Lynda I was born in City of London Maternity Hosp, Hanley Road. Tollington Park. Not there anymore but I think you would class it now as Harringey. IN 1978 lived in Aubert park. Highbury right opp Arsenal Football ground. My Dad used to work on the gates in the early 70's. Moved from Holloway to Wales in 1989 and then to manchester in 1992. Lived in Essex though from 1967 to 1976 so was an Essex girl thru puberty. When i was a young girl of 15 I was in love with the great Charlie George and my parents were called to my school to be told all I cared about was Football and CG. sad eh? Still support arsenal but only from a distant. My daughter though is a big fan. Up the Norf londerners!!

Well, as some of you will already know, I was born in Beckenham, Kent - though some people have called it Greater London for some time now. My Mum and Dad, and grandparents, came from Tooting / Lambeth / Vauxhall / Wandsworth. Lynda, I have been a Palace AKA Eagles fan for ever!! See you at Highbury / Selhurst Park this season! Joy

Although I was born in the Cotswolds, I was brought up in Golders Green, Hendon, Hampstead Garden Suburb, Highgate and Muswell Hill. I've since moved out to Enfield and St Albans. Jo.

I was born in Essex, but moved to London in 1980, starting of in Peckham, where I met hubby, who is London born and bred. We now live in Streatham, SW London and have done for about 12 years now. Recently found out, that a Aunt was married in a Weslyan Methodist Chapel in Jasmine Grove Penge, But do not believe that is there now. Believe she lived in Croydon area, but still checking that.
