Also these Banns:-
Name: James Tarling - (of this parish) Spouse Name: Mary Clarke - (of this parish) Record Type: Banns Marriage Bann Date: 16 Jan 1825, 23 Jan 1825 and 30 Jan 1825 Parish: St John at Hackney County: Middlesex Borough: Hackney
.......unfortunately as they were married by Banns, then there are no father's names listed on the marriage or the banns records.

Thank you for all your assistance. Essex seems to be the family place for Mary. We believe she died in 1849 as her son Frederick was with her at her death, no idea what she died from. If this is true then the 1861 census cannot be true, especially as James remarried within a few months and fathered another son very shortly after. Mary's children were Fanny 1831 and Frederick 1834.
Thank you again.

pm from Susan:-
Looks like William may have been another child but presumably he died. After Mary died in 1849, James married Sarah Mitilda Jolly and had three further boys with her - Frank, John and George. Frank b. 1850, died 1851, John born 1852 and George 1854. I have no mention of William but it might be worth researching further. By the way - what was Latchmere, Battersea, was it a hospital or perhaps just a district?
I googled Latchmere, Battersea, and the only thing to come up was a Pub called the Latchmere in Batteresea?
