Elizabeth Report 31 Jan 2012 20:52

I am trying to find Albert Walton's birth certificate. I think he was born in the 1880s in Hammersmith, London. He served with the Australian Army in WW1 and married Ada Tildesley in 1922 in Sydney, NSW and died on Sept. 24, 1957 in Auburn, NSW. I think his mother was Emily Shaw and his father was John Walton. I have a letter from his mother to the Australian Defence Services written in 1917 and she was then living in Princes Park, Liverpool.

That would be covered by Fulham registration district

PM received

His birth date is unknown by his living children. I am quite sure his mother was Emily. Will check out the birth in 1897 but I think it may be wrong as he stated on his enlistment papers with the Australian Army in 1916 that he had served 7 years with "R.H. Artillery" plus he also claims to be 33 years of age as well. His age is proving to be confusing.

I belive John was born in October 1841 son of Thomas Walton and Elizabeth nee Lancaster was was a cousin to my own Great-Grandfather Edward Walton (1842-1931).

John moved to the Liverpool area and Emily originated from Cheshire and was a baker by occupation, I had no idea he had a son however John appears to have pre deceased Emily.

The couple also had a daughter who married and I belive died in Liverpool circa 1917.

I have read the transcript of the trial of John and Emily Walton and was astonished by the contents, Alfred Armstrong Walton died at Oberstein Road on 7 March 1883.

In his will he left money to his nephews and neices, John Walton received the same as my Great-Grandfather and 36 others, until today I knew nothing of this trial.

John Walton had sisters Annie, Hannah, Elizabeth, brothers Thomas and Robert,
in the trial transcript it quoted John visiting Hexham he would be at his Mother's at Hencotes in west Hexham.
