Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me.
Im looking for any info on my GGrandparents John Barnard & Harriet Lee.
They married in 1912 and on the marriage cert it gives Johns fathers name as charles.
They are from Canning Town/ West Ham area in london, but i can't find them anywhere on any census.
I think iv been told he was born around 1888.. but I'm not sure.

Any info would be fantastic.

On the Lee side.... i think i find her on the 1901 census with her family. Mother Nancy and father Bilcher.

The marriage cert. should give their ages at the time of marriage, so when were they born?

I haven't got the marriage cert, my cousin has it unfortunately :(

Can you not contact her as you will never be sure of any finds without certain info.
As the marriage is 1912 then you may be able to find him on the 1911 census through his address at the time of marriage.
The cert. will also give you his father's occupation and his own occuption which could also help.
Witnesses may also be family members which can help confirm any findings. So you see the info from the cert. is vital in making sure we get the correct people.

I,ve taken a look but its hard work without a place of birth to find census ....lots of people with them names

There is another tree on A****** which shows the wife of a John Barnard being harriett Lee ....................and his parents down as Charles Barnard, Louisa Patience Barnard

There's a tree on ancestry that has this family (plus a photo of him and his wife Harriet). It gives her date of birth as 1944, so Jonesey's posting looks good, and Johns death as 18/6/1951.

It also gives father as Charles Barnard b. 1855 Great Waltham, Essex but I don't know how accurate this is as following him through the census records his occupation in 1891 is Surveyor, which doesn't seem to fit with the family being Hawkers?
