hi please could anybody help with info? my husbands grandfather william latford born 14 april 1880? in london
was in infantry not sure name of regiment he would like to find his military record in possible. any help would gratefully received

i dont know if you could check please it would appear that my husbands grandfather was in the 1st world war at eypes and has medals awarded for this period the service you kindly sent us would appear that this person was discharged on medical grounds after only serving 173 days and was well before the 1st world war started we believe that this was not my husbands grandfather? he would be about 34yrs when 1st world war started.thanks for your help

In your original post you have a question mark against 1880. Does this mean you are not sure?

I have looked on FMP and there are only two entries for Latford, W.

One I have already given you and the other one is this -

hi
just a query my sister in law says her grandmother went to see william james latford in hospital and the nurse asked who she was and she said his wife but the nursse said his wife was already here

any ideas to see if he was carrying on with somebody else i do not think it will show anything on census? i might have asked before so apologises if i have?

Did he marry Mary Ann Peaford in 1906 ?

But the Pension records on Ancestry give his wife a Maud Mary Ann ?

Okay just checked the Pension record and it does give her name as Peaford


No idea how you are going to find an answer to your question about "the other woman"

Gillian - do you actually have those medals?

It would be worth taking a look at them to see what details there are around the rim regarding his service number and the regiment he was in.

The person we are following here does not appear to have actually served in the army for very long on either occasion because of his epilepsy.
