Sorry i did not reply to your response.
You will see by my various messages that i am at a loss as to finding out my Isaac's birthplace.
I know that his trade was as a draper and tailor and that the New Romney family [Isaac] 1717 was of this trade and was hoping that this was his father.
He married a Maria Griffiths[Griffice] in Deal in 1799 and employed apprentices to his business there for a number of years before dying in 1836.

Thank you so much for your time and effort.
It seems therefore that he did not come from this family and as such his parish of birth will remain a mystery.
The only other possibility is that on the bishops transcript of his marriage to Maria in 1799 in Deal were the signatures of the two witnesses.
1-- C.Henderson[could be a Charles Henderson who married a Sarah White Lawrie in Deal in Aug 1788.
2-- Abraham[either an I or J or T] Brown being the other witness.

I live in south Kent and could probably find at least some of these references in filmed copies in the local library, but there is no point looking for the information if you already know it.
Parish registers sometimes show helpful bits of information which do not always show up in a transcribed version.

Do you have a parish register copy of the Hythe marriage to see if any of the known names were witnesses?

Have you looked in New Romney baptism registers for Abraham?
Do you know any occupations for any of these men?
Marsh folk were largely employed in agriculture and stayed on the Marsh, although being one of the Cinque ports there could be a maritime link between New Romney and Deal.

I am trying to find out whether he could be the same one who married an Ann Scantlebury in Hythe Kent in 1812.
This is linked to an Isaac Brown who married a Maria Griffiths in Deal Kent in 1798 with a witness signature of an Abraham.
Also can anyone trace an Isaac born in New Romney in 1773 with parents named Isaac and Ann Brisenden.
There was an Isaac born in Biddenden Kent in that year but not the one i am looking for.
Can anyone help me with this .
