could some kind person have a look and see if there are immigration records for :

Amy Sarah Patmore THORN b 1870 Devonshire, d 1945 New Zealand

and

Ernest Joseph Coleman THORN b 1867 in Devonshire. d 1946 New Zealand

I would like to know when they emigrated and if I am right in guessing they are related, perhaps brother and sister?

how are you attached to these people?

patchem

patchem Report 20 Nov 2012 07:20

Either of the birth certificates will give the parents' names, which will make it easier to rule out them still in England in 1871.
Or their marriage or death certificates.....

Thanks chris and andy

from the shipping it looks as though
John, Emma, ernest and amy came to NZ arriving in canterbury 7 dec 1875 on the Waitangi

Interesting the LACY name.
Amy and her husband Lewis William JOHNS had a son in 1913 and named him Raymond Lacy JOHNS
also a son named john coleman JOHNS

seems they loved using family names (very usefull)

Rosina, don't think Patrick relates to this particular 'Thread' query?, you need to start your own 'Thread'.

In the meantime, worth a search on below...

Rosina,

It might also help, on your new thread, to give a rough indication of his birth year and when he left the country.
