Hi everyone,

the last census I can find him in is 1851

Page: 10

Registration District: Weymouth

Civil Parish: Wyke Regis

Municipal Borough: Weymouth and Melcombe Regis

Address: 10, Spring Gardens, Wyke Regis, Weymouth And Melcombe Regis

County: Dorsetshire

Henrietta died in 1897 and in 1861, 1871 and 1881 census describes herself as wife. In 1891 and her will of 1897 she is a widow.

A tree on ancestry ( no documentation ) has George dying in 1892 in Michegan USA.

I would be grateful for any help to disprove / prove this.

The children Alfred and Thomas also disappear after 1851, the others I have traced

regards
Maddie

GlasgowLass Report 12 Sep 2013 16:56

Other than the one found by Thelma, I could find no trace of George's death in Michigan.

I noticed that there are several trees on Ancestry, all with the same death info.
None have source info on the death and I can only assume each copied the unsourced data from the other?

Not sure, but I think Mike may also have found the unsourced info on one of those trees??

Hi Maddie
I don't know how far you have got now re George Harvey, but here is abit of info I have.
I am George's gt.gt. Granddaughter and have a photo copy of his Will which proves he died in St. Joseph, Michigan, America in 1892. He left a very small sum of money to Henrietta (my gt.gt. Grandmother), but as she was already dead this sum went to Sarah his youngest daughter. Sarah was herself a widow and Henrietta had from Sarah's move from Weymouth lived with her and Sarah's family. As for Alfred, he died in 1861 age about 20 in Michigan. Somewhere in my research (started about 30 years ago) I think I found that he fought in the Civil War and perhaps that's where he died.
I hope this is of some help to you.
Best wishes,
Liz Hunt

Elizabeth, I'm sure Maddie would be thrilled to get your info but I don't know if she'd still be checking this thread after more than a year. I suggest you click on her name and send a personal message.
