I think somewhere along the line I have made an error about his marriage date.
I have been tinkering at various sites over a few years as to the mahaffy family.
And as you have been advising people . I have searched backwards,. Thank you so much for the information you have passed to me :-)

I gave date of birth of John Mahaffy as 1776 this is correct
However the date of his marriage should be 1793. To ,Mary McBeth.If anyone can add any more info to this.His parents,bros ,sisters etc I would be very grateful.
