Have marriage cert for the above He married in 1874 in Welsh Independent Chapel Chelsea to Catherine Williams. Age for Lewis on this cert is 33, so he was born c.1841/42. He was born in Celynn, Monmouthshire. His fathers name on M C is William Jones. To go any further with this I need his B C for his mothers name. Searched all census records, have found Lewis but still can't trace name of his mother Lewis occupation was Carpenter His father William has occupation as Stone Mason. Lewis and Catherine had first 2 children in Chelsea and then came back to South Wales where they had another 9 children. |

Have you found Lewis on the 1851 census, and the 1861 and 1871 censuses? |

Wondered about this - William Jones has been missed off, but on image his occupation is that of smith, so probably not yours. |

Might have been better to stick to your original thread |

Many thanks for replies. Have found Lewis in census for 1881/1891/1901 when he was already married Cant find him in census for 1851/1861/1871 when he would have been with parents. His father William is listed as Stone Mason on marriage cert of Lewis. Celynn is listed as Glamorganshire,Monmouthshire and sometimes Merionethshire. I seem to be stuck now on taking this any further |

Valerie, please don't post on this thread - do as Mike suggests and go back to the original one. |

I do not think it is Celynn, but Celynin. The nearest large town might be useful. |
