My husbands grandfather, Arthur Brown, was born in Egypt in 1836 while his father, Thomas Brown, worked as an engineer on the Egyptian Railways.

Thomas Brown was born in Wolverton, Bucks - He married Elizabeth Tooth in 1861 in Egypt; most of their children were born there:-
- George Edwin in 1864
- Arthur in 1866
- Elizabeth Emma Jane in 1869
- Martha Edith in 1872 (she was known as Edith and married George Brownsworth Glenny in 1897).
- There were other children born, they all died young.

There is a strong early family connection with Wolverton, Bucks and, later to the Manchester area.
