I am trying to trace my nans siblings Joseph Charles, and I think a sister who on the 1911 census looks like Alice or Alace Broomfield. Their Father was Edward Broomfield and mother was Margaret Jones. they lived in Southwark, London. I believe Joseph was born in Holborn in 1896 and after this census I can find no other records either marriage, war or death. There was also a Walter. I have managed to trace the direct line back to 1720 but for some reason I am stuck on these more recent ones! I would be most grateful for any help/tips. There is a family rumour that a sister moved to Scotland. Margaret is another sister whose historyI am aware of so it cannot be her and my nans name was Agnes.

Thank you for any help

Hi thank you so much for that I have kept trying unsuccessfully for quite a few years now to get more info on him. it was very poignant to see the poppy next to his name. I think this must be him with the middle name and fathers name the same. Maybe he was based there on an RAF base I don't know. When I looked under Military records it drew a blank where should I look in the future to get such detail such as fathers name and place of birth etc. and is there anyway of finding out exactly where his war grave is or his join up personal details. Also does anyone know if tracing the person who put the poppy there possible. As I am only an hour away from Preston and would like to pay my respects. As to the other siblings Alace, I can find absolutely nothing on, and I wondered if it could be a misspelling of Alice but cannot find a birth record of an Alice to Edward and Margaret.

thank you again for all your help.

You;ll find his details on here - and if you look at the documents it gives plot/row numbers. The cemetery office should have a plan to locate the grave.

I've checked ERs, and the only children to show up with Edward/Margaret are Edward Llewellyn Broomfield and Agnes. Had hoped Alice/Alace would show up to get her name.

I can't see a marriage either, nor births for the younger children with any degree of certainty.

Thank you very much, for all the information . I have tried also to find a marriage certificate and I couldn't either. I may have to just wait for the next Census to confirm Alace/Alice's name.

No apologies necessary Chris, I'm glad someone has confirmed this. They lived at the same address for a number of years - but they were the only children showing up with the parents.

Strange thing though, it looks like Edward Llewellyn married in 1929 - but he remained with his parents for a few years after the marriage! I can only find him with wife Louisa from about 1936....unless I've got the wrong person.
