New request at end of thread of today 6th Jan

Based on Charles' Marriage :-

Warwickshire, England, Marriages and Banns,
Name: Eliza Grubb
Birth Year: abt 1850
Age: 22
Spouse Name: Charles Checkley
Spouse Age: 30
Marriage or Bann Date: 23 Jan 1872
Event Type: Marriage
Parish: Bedworth
Father Name: Thomas Grabb
Spouse Father Name: Job Checkley

His father is Job and I would like to find his mother.
As I cannot find a birth for Charles I thought the details would be in the 1851 Census. There seem to be several Jobs about so finding one with a son Charles is the only hope. A further problem seems to be that the family has connections with the army so postings take them all over. Has anybody got a nack of solving this please?

Many thanks,
Frances

p.s, What follows is the original thread

51 census request at end

I have been given fresh information on the Checkley family, who lived at Napton on the Hill, next to Southam, Warks. I believe children were born who should be in the 1881 census and the parents were :-

Marriages Mar 1872
CHECKLEY Charles Foleshill
6d 489

Grubb Eliza Foleshill
6d 489

Can anybody see this family please?

Many thanks,
Frances

Thank you Londonbells but this doesn't look right. Names that have been given include George (died young), Francis Henry and possibly after 1881 were Walter Arthur, Herbert and Marion so it looks like I should have suggested the 1891 census, please

1881 is free on familysearch

have you looked there?

Charles' occupation on his Marriage Certificate was Sergeant this being the case and if he was still in the Army in 1881 census he and his family could be overseas......just a thought

Look for births for the names you give

How did you work back to these people?

Do you have any factual info about children.......or is it all hearsay?

Frances

Frances Report 21 Nov 2014 16:13

As again you have hit the nail on the head and Francis Henry was born in Cork but the family then returned for the later children.

Frances Report 24 Nov 2014 15:55

Hi all. Being good and obeying the rules I am using this old Checkley thread to ask for the 1841 census for Job Checkley who was born in 1829 in:-

Name: Job Checkley
Gender: Male
Christening Date: 19 Jan 1829
Christening Place: NAPTON ON THE HILL,WARWICK,ENGLAND
Father's Name: Job Checkley

Mother's Name: Eleanor

Indexing Project (Batch) Number: C04659-1 , System Origin: England-ODM , GS Film number: 502292

I believe he has a son Charles in 1842 but I cannot find a marriage for Job in FreeBMD or FamilySearch and wonder if he has a wife by 1841 please?

Many thanks,
Frances
