I'm actually related to George by his second marriage but I have been tracing his first marriage, because basically I'm nosy and I was bored. ;-)

Louisa Holland apparently married Thomas Northwood in 1871, on the census she's living with her parents and her name is Louisa Northwood and she is 19, Thomas is living with his parents, he's 20 but it doesn't say he is married. In 1881 they have 2 children, 9 and 6 mons, 1891 the same thing 19, 10, 1901 the same thing 29, 20.

1911 is where it gets interesting Louisa is in a lunatic alyssum and Thomas is living with Lily and her husband. Thomas says he had 3 children but only one is still alive.

Now my problem is who was the third child and when did Ada die. Sometime between 1901 and 1911, but when?

My first thought was Louisa was pregnant which is why she got married but no Northwood died between 1861 and 1871, in the district of Kings Norton, except some lady who was 61, by 1891 they were living in Wales and FreeBMD doesn't do Wales so I'm stuck.

As far as the missing child goes there are a number of Northwood children who died between say 1872 and 1901( on freebmd.org.uk ) , you could look for any baptisms.

Oh thanks Choccy, while I guess she survived :-)

Rose - where do I look for baptisms???

Rambling Report 28 Nov 2014 23:38

I was going to suggest family search and the baptisms on Ancestry but I've looked at both and not found anything so far.

Who was George?

I'm intrigued as well ;-)

BTW

freebmd certainly DOES include Wales, as does the census

Just a little correction. The 1911 census says that Thomas had 3 children, 2 still alive, 1 had died.

The only George that I see is Louisa's father George Holland on the marriage record.
