The chances of anyone connected seeing your post are remote in the extreme.

However do you have the dates correct or am I missing something..?

You begin "by looking at Carrick in the 1700s"

You have John b 1831 son of Jeremiah Cunningham and Maria Carthy but go on to say "Maria" had a daughter Maria b 17 November 1742...

I have lost nearly 100 years in the reading..!!

Jerry Cunningham and Maria Carthy certainly did have a child named Maria (below)

Maria Cunningham DOB 11/18/1742 to Jeremiah Cunningham & Maria Carthy, Sir Johns Road,
Carrick-on-Suir Parish, Catholic Sponsors:John McCarthy, Judith Neile.

Help me out here...
