I am looking for William and Mary Watts on the 1881 census somewhere in Yorkshire/Derbyshire.

This is the 1871 census with them living in Union Buildings Sheffield,

1871 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription

Union Buildings, Sheffield, Yorkshire Household Members

First name(s) Last name Relationship Marital status Gender Age Birth year Occupation Birth place

William Watts Head - Male 44 1827 - Derbyshire, England

Mary Watts Wife - Female 49 1822 - Derbyshire, England T

Henry Wilshire Lodger - Male 49 1822 - Yorkshire, England Tr

Hannah Wilshire Wife - Female 30 1841 - Derbyshire, England T

Mary Ann Hamilton Lodger - Female 44 1827 - Yorkshire, England

Mary Ann Hamilton Lodger - Female 13 1858 - Nottinghamshire, England

Both William and Mary were born in Brampton Derbyshire and he is a Blacksmith they had no children.

If they can't be found on the 1881 census could someone look for their deaths between 1871 /1881.

I have already sent for a death cert for each of them but they are both wrong.

The certs I have sent for are William Watts March qtr 1896 7b 307 Chesterfield

Mary Watts March qtr 1893 Ecclehall B 9c 207.

Both wrong.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi Sue

I can't spot either of them on the 1881 census.

The deaths that Gritty posted are all that I could come up with too.

As Gritty said..........they were living in Sheffield in 1871.

Having said that.........If Mary died in 1891, she should be on the 1881 census somewhere.

Have you tried looking at the Sheffield Indexers website for the burials, there are several possibilities on there

Shirley,I have looked on FRREBMD foor their deaths,,,1st port of call.

Gritty,,Thanks for those death notices.I did consider Williams which you have shown but I thought it was too young for him.

But I will send for both those certs and keep everything crossed they are the right ones.

Jean thanks for your help.

PH I thought Mary should be on the 1881 if that is the death notice..

Linda in HerriotCountry..

Didn't know Sheffield had there own indexers,

Thanks will take a look.

Sue

Thanks to all of you for your help.

Yvonne and Gritty.

Well you have give me a shock as I didn't know about ELLEN WATTS child of William and Mary..

I will have to get her BIRTH/ death certS also..

Yes that is Williams baptism and his parents names.

Thanks for that info, now I know why they moved from Brampton and I bet it hurt Mary when she took her niece (brother;s child) in 1861 and then the baby died.
She took the baby as the mother died in childbirth.

Well Ladies,,
Sorry to have to tell you all I am still searching for William and Mary on the 1881 censu or their deaths between 1871 and 1881 that's if they aren't on 1881,

Both death certs were wrong for them in Sheffield so I am going to have a look in or around Brampton Derbyshire.
William was a blacksmith on the 1871.
