Find Ancestors

Albert appears on the 1891 census as John Pole's-1829 grandson who lives in Belgrave. As anyone got his parents. on their tree I do not think he is the son of Charles Pole who is visiting his parents on the census. I may be wrong but have not recollected him being mentioned by my Gt Aunt Ethel, who would have been his sister. Any help would be appreciated, or it looks like another Birth Cert will have to be bought.

Yvonne 1829 was John Poles birth date, Albert was born about 1883, I have seen
Albert on a couple of trees being attached to Charles Henry Pole who was visiting
I am wondering if it as been assumed that he belongs to Charles my Gt Grandfather
as he is down as grandson, but of course John had more children and I wonder if Albert belongs to one of them. as a mentioned my Gt Aunt Ethel daughter of Charles never mentioned a brother.

i dont think it means he is the son of charles just a grandchild of john and martha
who is the father of the other grandchildren in census

My thoughts exactly just wondered if anyone other than those who have put him as Charles's son on their tree, had a clue to who his parents were. Maybe has a tree with him on. He did marry and I have found him in the 1911 census.

Gamesters. — -Albert Victor Pole (16), shoe finisher, Moore's-road, was charged with gaming with cards in Flax-road on the 6th May, and was fined 2s 6d.

There was another boy charged at the same time.


That means that this is his attestation.

He was a shoe hand for a Mr. Knight, shoe manufacturer of Belgrave Rd.

He was 5' 4 and 4/8 inches and said he was 17. He was discharged 25/08/99 having made 'a mistatement as to age.'


So it looks like he lied about his age to join up but when he was found out, he went back to his previous job for a while. He sounds quite a character!!


He then joined up again.

I think the Albert Pole born in Belgrave is a different man.
