Several trees on ancestry have those parents. Curiosly, none have leonard. But the luton surely confirms they were twins. Obviously one of the informants got the date of birth wrong. The fact they have the same index entry also must mean they were twins

Thank you maylon - that's very useful

Jude - thats one reason why I got confused. At first I thought the birth regs were transcriptions ON the index for the same birth. If we accept that they were different people, then it would seem they were probably twins

The only Judith Plowmans born (4 on GRO index) are this side of 1940 - one - Judith A in 1942 Peterborough RD and the other Judith A in 1945 Kettering RD. The P'B one would be in a good place for the 1960 wedding posted, but aged 17 to Leonard a 43 year old? I know it has happened!

Am not seeing a Plowman to Judith marriage prior to that on the GRO index

http://www.iannounce.co.uk (Northamptonshire newspapers)
An Eva May Long passed away 15th January 2011 aged 94. One obituary mentions 3 younger sisters whose names match some of the siblings born to the marriage Beech, mmn Cornish and the other names of one of her sons although spelt differently from birth index

Possible the other son Brian L(Leonard) died 2004 Northampton

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 23 Aug 2015 17:07

I'm just wondering whether, as the birthdate on Lawrenson's death is 24th April, and on Leonard's death is 4th April, whether the twenty fourth got misheard as the fourth, or vice versa, or even whether the date on one was mistranscribed when compiling the index, so either the 2 got omitted, or a smudge got turned ino a 2.

could the difference in the birth date be as simple as the fact that most information on a death certificate is only that which is known to the informant, and much of it is hearsay?

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 24 Aug 2015 13:35

Thanks mgnv – other than the Long/Crisp births post Sep 1911, the ones on the 1911 census are

Births Mar 1907 (>99%)
LONG Harold Edward W Northampton 3b 56

Births Sep 1908 (>99%)
Long Albert Edward Hardingstone 3b 33

The 1911 census does say that they’d only had 2 children. The others possibly belong to another couple.

Births Jun 1911 (>99%)
Long Cecilia M Hardingstone 3b 32
Is worth a consideration as she might have been born after the 1911 census
………..

The 1938 marriage of Long Leonard L to Beech Eva M Northampton 3b 187 does seem a possible as a first marriage. I must admit I was a little surprised at the Long/Plowman marriage but love has no age boundaries!

Not seeing the births for the girls mentioned on the Obit of Eva Long only the 1938 & 1939 boys. What am I doing wrong?
......

Without out purchasing the twins DC (or BC) certs, any of the suggestions made re the dob could be correct. As mentioned to begin with, they are 'twigs' so unless we win the lottery, it may well remain a mystery.

Everyones help is vey appreciated. Thank you
