Find Ancestors

Hi can anyone tell me how I can find a Karl Dofs that immigrated from Germany. I believe their actual name was Dores though but I don't think that their family could speak English. Born 1868 Germany married Sarah Whittingham marriage to Karl Dofs 1898. Thank you.

According to a tree on ancestry, Frederick was apparently known as Dores

Thank you ladies yes I have seen all of these. My grandfather Willam Dofs changed his name to part of his mothers ie whittingham. He made his name to Whitham while Frederick changed it to Dores. The tree on ancestry is mine. I signed up to the get the german side to see if I could find out Where Karl came from in Germany. He also disappears after the last 1911 census. I know that when my grandfather married Elizabeth Nunn he was already deceased and he had his name done on the wedding certificate as Charles Whitham Merchant navy deceased

SylviaInCanada; I also cant find where my grandmother Sarah and the her daughters are buried? Very frustrating!!

It is always difficult to find burials ........

..... you may want to look at the churches near where they lived, see if the Parish Registers have been transcribed in to the internet.

look at the FindAGrave site ............... although I did look for Sarah Ann and it wasn't on there. This site does depend on volunteers to submit photos of grave stones
