At a quick search, I can see birth and death for Winifred, but nothing for Anthony. You might have to get a copy of the marriage cert for more info.

Also, another sister born Worthing 1935.

On the A B "Cove" merchant seaman's record above the name on the image looks very much like "Cave".

The date of engagement was 12-2-38.

Birth date says "46" - wonder if that was actually the age at engagement? Birth place looks like Nigina?? (Nigeria?) Rank is 2nd cook.

So Alfred probably not the person we seek.

I think it's highly likely that Anthony B and Alfred B are one and the same person, especially given the death locations.

If he preferred the name Anthony then there would be nothing to stop him marrying in that name. He may have reverted to his "legal" name later on - or the marriage index may be incorrect.

I think Alfred Brudnal Cove (not to be confused with Alfred Berkeley Cove from Essex who married Eileen Hinton) may be the son of William Henry Cove and Beatrice Clark(e) of Bedale. Would be interesting to see father's name on the 1934 marriage certificate.

EDIT: I see that one of the initials in the middle names of the daughter born 1939 stands for BEATRICE, perhaps after his mother? (Source: Derbyshire Registrars Marriages on FindMyPast).

By the way, I think Maureen had an older sister born Worthing.
