Looking for the parents of Horace Hayes (1735-1805). I do know that he married Elizabeth Thirkell at Teddington on Aug 22, 1767. He worked in the royal household as financial advisor to the Princes Ernest and Augustus. He became Commissioner of Taxes in later life.

Horace's father (or perhaps grandfather) might be the mysterious Marquis de la Haye who is said to have come from Picardy France and went to Cork Ireland around 1690.

Please note that there are portraits of both Horace Hayes and Marquis de la Haye (copies posted on Genes Reuinited but unknown where originals are). No further clues, but all help is appreciated.

Many thanks,

Chrissa

Hello to all of the kind folks who are assisting in my search of Horace Haye's parents.
I have been pouring over your replies this morning and, thanks to some well timed advice, I can now reply as well.

Thank you for your efforts! Wow! I am so excited and grateful to you folks for assisting me. I see that you have found Horace's sons and daughters.

It's just his parents that are proving so elusive! Someone has suggested to me that since Horace worked in the royal palace, he would definitely have been required to have a connection to the royal family. And it is even suspected that he was what one might call "a quiet member of the royal household". That might explain the family's name change from "de la Haye" to "Hayes"?
