Hi
I am looking for the parents of a Lily Glover (born c1895)
She married Robert Cundy who lived in the Ashbourne area and they had two children Eliza and Harold.

I found a census which links Lily to parents John and Annie in Derby but i cannot be sure this is the right Lily as cannot find a marriage cert to Robert giving fathers name.

Although this census record from 1881 has her birth place as Nottingham, I think this is likely to be Lily with her family (the only Lily Glover I can find with father James):-

Seems like that would have fit nicely, but Robert Cundy's father was George, unless there is an error in my tree :/

That's the only marriage of a Robert Cundy and a Lily Glover that I can find.

Well lily is living with Annie b 1898. Walter b 1910 and Thomas b 1912. on the 1939 register so must be the right family

How did you get back to that couple please? You say the couple you are looking for had two children but that Lily Cundy nee Glover had thirteen children! She's also born about 20 years earlier than you say in your opening post.

You also think Robert's father's name is George not Robert.

Perhaps you should check the details and sources you have as you don't want an inaccurate tree.

Do you have a birth certificate for Harold or Eliza to confirm that their mother had' been married before?

It is very possible that Lily and Robert Cundy had 13 children (bit of a revelation actually as this definitely fits!!) ... we only have Eliza and Harold down as their children on the tree as they are the family links and obviously do not appear on the 1911 census as born 2-3 years afterwards.

I will have to double check Robert's fathers name - but pretty sure it is George who married Sophia Mellor due to census records etc.

I try to avoid errors in my tree but becomes very difficult when you're going back 100-200 years.

Ah! I wonder if Robert couldn't remember his father's same so just gave Robert same as his own.

Robert seems to have a brother called George. Is this perhaps where you have got the name George from?

It seems that I have somehow put George Cundy as Robert's father, when it is actually his brother because my tree shows Henry and Catherine Astle as Robert's grandparents when in fact they were his parents.
Not sure why I did that...

I have a feeling that Robert's mother was married three times. I think this might be her marriages:-

First:- EDIT - THINK THIS FIRST MARRIAGE IS WRONG - CATHERINE PROBABLY HAD THE FIRST DAUGHTER BEFORE SHE WAS MARRIED. (looks like she was born Catherine Astle in 1845 in Shardlow district)
