I would be very grateful for some help in finding James Randall post the 1901 census.
He was born in 1858 in Birmingham and I have found him on the 1861-1901 census records then he disappears.
In 1901 he was a fruit merchant living in Augusta Road, Kings Norton with his wife, six children and two servants.
Both James and his wife Clara were still alive in 1911 (he died in 1930) and he was still in business as I have found his son Leonard who is listed as working for his father.
He is definitely NOT the James Randall listed in the Salvation Army hostel, which is the only "James Randall" of the right age that I can find.
I`m not very good at "random" searches but I know some of you are so here`s hoping!

Thank you all very much for trying. I have all the information you`ve come up with I just can`t find James after 1901 until his death in 1930. I suppose the house could have been missed or the census record lost---frustrating!

thank you once again AustinQ. I can`t have been looking very thoroughly as I had tried the electoral registers but it was some time ago.
Now Ellen is hugely interesting, James was of course in living memory of my previous generation and no one ever mentioned a second wife.
You`ll be pleased to hear that that concludes my "missing persons" and you`ve given me loads to go on.
