James Barton Milligan sais born Springbay Tas 1850,I have no proof there is no
Birth Cert. he is my married to my G/G/grandfather married Elizabeth Jane Harris in Wentworth NSW 1874,I have their Cert.
I have found his death on 26 Nov 1923 in Benevolent Home.
Castlemaine.
Buried 28 Nov 1923 in Castlemaine Cemetery Trust. Grave #122 Section C.
The Milligan family in Purdeet have him as James Leonard Milligan with death place same as my James. James mother Elizabeth Barden was a convict in Tas but it has no record of this on her death cert, I would love to find out if both James are the same. thank you.

There is only 1 death for a 'James Milligan' in 1923. That's if I'm right thinking Castlemaine is in Victoria

Thank you for your response , they were married after James birth, if its the same one, which I am 80% sure.
Yes Castlemaine is in Vic and its him for certain as it has Mildura on the certificate.
It is a bit confusing when names are similar. I have no idea where James was living before he came to Wentworth and Mildura. Thanks again.

The Mildura Cultivator- Wed 27 Jan 1915

DEATH.
MILLIGAN.-On the 17th January at
Mildura, Elizabeth Jane, dearly
beloved wife of James Barton Milli
gan and loving mother of Mrs T.
Coombe. Aged 73 years.
A patient sufferer at rest.
-----------------------------------------------

The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : Fri 27 Jan 1922

Mr. Barton Milligan, an octogenarian,
missed from the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.
Coombes, on Tuesday evening. Search parties were
sent out and the old man was found on Wednesday
morning near Koorlong, seven miles away. He
was much exhausted. He has shown evidence of
lack of memory lately, and apparently had for-
gotten where he lived. He is little the worse for
his adventure.

Thanks , I have this info on James Milligan. The James that belongs to the Milligan Purdeet family are saying they have his death in Castlemaine the same as my James.
I have a letter from the Benevolent Society to say he was from Mildura so I am convinced that he he is my James but would like some proof that he is one and the same.
