James knight 1854 hitchin and wife Emily Smith 1853 my great great grandparents had their granddaughter live with them in the 1911 census at 12 halls yard, tilehouse street at 13mths old. Who her mother was I trying to find out. I know it was one of their daughter's who got pregnant but which one ? Daughter's are Annie 1881 hitchin, Elizabeth E 1889 hitchin, Emma 1889 hitchin, Rosie 1891- 1970 married to Ernest w Smith had children not sure who, Gertrude 1894 - 1979 married , Bertha Clara 1896 hitchin. All I know that Phyllis mother slept with a bloke who either came over from America or moved to America.do not know if mother married or died but Phyllis married a Ernie dear and had a son called Milna Dear. When I go into 1911 census under James knight and then click on granddaughter name Phyllis that is where it says she was born.
