MENHENIOT. - A serious accident occured at Wheal
Mary Ann Mine on Friday night, the 13th instant, about
ten o'clock, to Richard Prin, a miner, residing an Menheniot,
who had both hands shattered, whilst blasting a hole in
the said mine. It appears that he with another man had
set fire to their last hole for the night, and were about to
ascend, when not hearing any report of an explosion, they
returned and began boring out the hole again, Prin turning
the borer, which striking fire ignited the powder, and
caused the explosion which deprived the poor fellow of both
his hands.

If she was on her own and not with Richard on that census she may have said she was a widow to get church relief. She states she is a Wool Comber and the Richard I found was also a Wool Comber.

Richard is a lodger with a Elizabeth Noble on a census but I can't find her on the 1851 either.

I wonder if these census are missing???

If it hadn't stated "Widow" I might have been more convinced.

The only two things I don't have is the blooming 1851 and 1841 census records.

Have you got Thomas's marriage to Catherine Parsons? One of the witnesses is a William Pryn and Richard is down as a Labourer which cold mean in a mine.

All I did manage to find was a little snippet from the newspaper saying that Richard had lost both his hands in a mining accident (If it is the same one?)
