I 'think' that the RM prefix means that it is a Catholic wedding ??

Yes thankyou...that birth is a possibility ...death is correct one ...think the only way he will know fir certain as its a registrar marriage is by getting wedding cert. No other way round it. :-)
Could that mean either a registry office wedding or a non conformist church one ? :-)

Get this marriage cert to start with from Lancs Reg Office:

1921:

HAWORTH William HOWARTH Ellen Burnley Register Office or Registrar Attended Preston RM/200/120

This will give their ages, addresses, fathers, occupations for both and witnesses who may well be family members...

Could anyone help in finding the above William Haworth who died in 1971 aged 81. He married Ellen howarth in 1921 with registrar present in burnley. Not sure where he was born but grandson says burnley. He was in the royal marines during the first world war and when I looked on a burnley site I found one who could be him with the name William Henry Haworth . Any help would be really appreciated although I realise there may need to be certificates purchased with being such a common name in the area .
:-)
