ok. here is a challenge for you all! I have just joined The GREEN ROOM within your irish heritage and my dna matches to Helen Youens who was born in Bacup but now lives in the USA, here is HER enquiry to me this morning - can anyone help?

My mother is Mary Burke b. 1933 - her mother Margaret Burke b. 1909 unknown father (was married man) - people won't tell me,
Gparents - Maternal - Ellen Melia b. 1872 Co. Galway, Ireland, father John Melia, mother Bridget
Paternal - Michael Burke b. 1872 Manchester, his father Thomas Burke, mother Sarah Coley

Strange but I have searched and in 6 years have found nothing on these people. my cousin has searched for over 20 and got nothing. He has't searched the Burke's but nothing on them. I came & did the baptism & marriage registers at the church when I was there. it's like people did't exist. I went to Dublin to the GRO research facility and no birth records.

can anyone help here please?

ermm...well, not sure but something to do with men and work at wartime, 'google' search can probably explain better, or somebody on GR here perhaps, nothing worrying or major I don't think, lol,

(notes two men before in same list had 'Temporary Exemption' and 'Conditional Exemption')
