I asked something about my other side of the family and the amount of information was incredible and totally unexpected so I am going to post this and then head off to bed and see what tomorrow brings, if any. This is literally the hardest side of my family so I have no idea what anyone will know.

So, my grandmother was called Esther Ryan and she was born in Tipperary, Ireland in 1935 and died 1999 in Dorset, England. I have no clue about her parents, in fact I don't think I've ever heard anyone speak of them at all.

All I know is Esther had lots of siblings - There was Norrie or Nora, Peggy, Ritchie or Richard, Andrew or Andy, Paddy or Patrick, Breda, Agnes and Rose. That is all we know of at the moment but there were lots more.

I'll try and catch up with Aunt Norrie ASAP but all I know is they left Ireland in the early 40s to move to Dorset. Then from there different people went all to different places so I don't really know. much more. Peggy, Norrie, Esther and Andrew stayed in Dorset but not sure about the others.

I doubt this is helpful but one of them married someone called Nancy. Nancy and her husband lost their child in a car accident. Peggy and Nora were known as Marler when they married - I believe they married brothers. Esther became a Carter when she married Graham Carter and they had two sons and a daughter.

Not sure what else I can think of, however I've literally got my grandmother, aunt norrie, peggy and that's about it and can't add Nor and Peggy until I've got parents on there. Know nothing more other than Norrie never had children and married Fred Marler.

If anyone knows anything or can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate that.

Thank you so much, you've all been so helpful to me today and I hit a brick wall earlier today and with your help, I've literally found 100 people today. Wasn't sure if any of my information was correct and then you all came along and saved me! :)

Are you saying Ellen Caplice is Esthers mother or just throwing ideas out there?

I don't know where Esthers birth certificate is, but I can try to ask dad when he's back.

The indexes are on familysearch.org, but they seem a little muddled, listing five births in 1932. However, when you open the record it gives a different date. Perhaps they hadn't been registered when born and all registered together?? Anyway, these are the Ryan/ Caplice births in Tipperary in age order (thought it might be easier to see it in a list):

Mary Ryan Jan - Mar 1922

Ellen Ryan Jan - Mar 1923

Patrick Ryan Jan - Mar 1924

Margaret M Ryan Jan - Mar 1925

Andrew Ryan Oct - Dec 1928

Norah Ryan Jan - Mar 1930

Richard Ryan Apr - Jun 1931

Anna Ryan Jul - Sep 1932

Esther Ryan Apr - Jun 1935

Jeremiah Ryan Jan - Mar 1938

Alice Ryan Jul - Sep 1940

Rose Ryan Apr - Jun 1942

so that death for Margaret Mary does tie with the right birth year of 1925

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 22 Aug 2016 09:07

Except it's Jan- March 1925 registration, but Margaret's date of birth on the death is given as November 1925.

It's possible the death is a year out and she was born end November 1924 and registered January 1925?

There was one child born to the Marler/Ryan marriage in 1954.

You can check it out on the FreeBMD site.

Also........check out the marriage for Alice Ryan in 1961.

And a daughter born the same year. (Apart from the daughters birth registration, I can find no further details about her)

Alice and hubby are on the 2002 Electoral Register living in Poole, Dorset.

Peggy Marler had a son called David but he moved to Italy and had a family there.

Norah did not have any children.

Did not know Alice was in Poole, that's really strange?! Norah is in Poole as we always visit her and really close but no idea about Alice and Norah doesn't speak of her.
