Hi and many thanks to you all for your kind advice. I have now received info via this board which has allowed me not only find out more about Beatrice but to link with an ancestor. Beatrice married abroad (Africa) which is why I kept hitting a brick wall.
Many thanks again for your assistance.
Regards
Gill

I take it the records you have are from the electoral registers?

59 Boundary Road, Bexley, Kent 1946- 1948

William F Harper
Beatrice D Harper
Mabel Harper

In 1949 Mabel is still at the same address (no William or Beatrice listed):

With the onset of War perhaps Mabel moved back up north to her parents for the safety of the children.

On the 1939 register there are two closed records after Mabel's name. I assume one of those would be Beatrice. I don't see another child born in Cockermouth, but if they did move south during the 30s then there is a child, Roland, born in 1934 (which would account for two closed records).

If after the war, they moved to Kent (where William's death is recorded), then perhaps this is Mabel's death (I suspect the Mabel Dawes death is just coincidence in having the same birthday as your Mabel):

First name(s) MABEL
Last name HARPER

If you look at the image for that 1939 it has an 'M' for married next to Mabel- I think widowed is a transcription error.

Gee Report 6 Sep 2016 22:40

Could this be 'Mabel' with her family in 1939? Two closed records are on the image

Household (6 People)
13 Wedgewood Street , Workington M.B., Cumberland, England

Mabel Harper 15 Nov 1899 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Widowed 281 6
Joseph Harrison 10 May 1871 Male Plumber Tinsmith Widowed 281 1
William Harrison 04 Sep 1904 Male Colliery Pumps Man Below Married 281 2
Annie L M Harrison 25 Oct 1905 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Married 281 3
Leonard Harrison 31 Dec 1930 Male At School Single 281 4
Neville Cowen (Cohen) 03 May 1931 Male At School Single 281 5
--------------------------------------

Checked the 1939 Register for this lady (below) and there is no sign of her, using her birth date.

With the possibility of 'Mabel' (above) being with her family in 1939 and claiming herself to be 'widowed', she may have separated from her husband and co-habited with another man, called 'Dawes'

I 'think' the maiden name should be recorded on the death certificate for 'Mabel Dawes'

Name: MABEL DAWES (there is a Probate record registered) The URl has been provided on the above post dated: 5 Sep 2016 18:05

Birth day 15 Birth month 11 Birth year 1899 (15/11/1899)
Death quarter 2
Death year 1975
District BARROW IN FURNESS
Volume 1
Page 0024
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, that leaves 'Beatrice' who may or may not have taken her mothers possible 'adopted' name.

Buying a couple of legal documents such as the above death certificate and the Will of William Frederick Harper will help you to verify or not, the above information.

Suggest you get the birth certificate for exact date of birth, and the name behind the D, to help in identification.

Hi trying to find information on Beatrice D Harper.
She was born in Workington Cumbria in 1925 to William Frederick Harper and Mabel Harper (nee. Harrison).
Recrods show they moved to Surrey in the 1930's and then lived in Bexley Kent 1946/47/48. However after 1948 I can't find and record of Beatrice or Mabel. Beatrice's father William Harper died in 1976 in Bromley Kent.
The family have lost touch, Beatrice would be my Great Aunt any information on her and family would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Gill
