Yes, I think I agree with those furious posts, their prices are ridiculous. I don't think I'll be renewing.
Thanks for your help.

As an Ancestry subscriber, you'd probably need to upgrade to an 'all access' account which is over £200. It's one step up from World Wide.

There are a number of furious posts on their facebook page due to the fact that British Records held by the National Archives are only available on an American owned site.

If the Library doesn't have access at that level, see if the index entry is on the National Archive. It might be possible to follow the link to Ancestry but pay to view just that set of images.

Here is some info and feedback from Ancestry members.

http://blogs.ancestry.com/ancestry/2013/10/09/ancestry-annes-top-ten-things-you-need-to-know-about-fold3-military-records/

There are some details about membership fees and the records you will have access to

Check your local library as they may have access to Fold3 and it shouldn't cost you a 'bean'

Google is a good tool :-)

e. Fold3 is a database of documents, images, and other material covering American military history, owned by the genealogical database Ancestry.com.

Does anyone know anything about Fold3. It was mentioned in a Lost Cousins newsletter so I clicked on the link and found something that may relate to an ancestor but I can't open it, even though I have a Premium membership with Ancestry. They do offer a 7 day free trial but I'm afraid to try it in case I have trouble cancelling it.
