Have copied this over for a David who put a post on an old thread about Kelly's directory.

'Hi I am looking for a Banjo Maker H Tarlton 71 Upper Moss Lane,Hulme,Manchester
Or any of the family,I have the very high class Banjo & am having trouble traceing it as this part of Manchester has been redevelop,I hope there is some info in the 1929 Directory.'

I found Harry Tarlton listed in the 1933 Kelly's at the same address, when he is listed as a music teacher.

Maybe the sleuths on here can help David?

I'm not sure what David's trying to find out - maybe the location of Upper Moss Lane ??

As far as Kelly's 1929 directory is concerned, it lists:

Tarlton, Harry, teacher of music, 71 Upper Moss Lane, H. [Hulme ?]

Upper Moss Lane (or what's left of it) runs between Ribston Street and Stretford Road (A5067) :

I expect the vanished part of it was on the north side of Ribston Street.

I've found Harry Whalley in 1881 with his family living in Prestwich, Manchester. And I've found a death for him in Q2 1943 Manchester.

I think David is trying to trace the family who made his banjo.

I've found Harry's brother Arthur Edwin born Q2 1864 in Chorlton and a possible death in Q1 1938 Bournemouth. There is a possible marriage in Q1 1905 to an Emily Whiting, but that couple don't seem to have had any children either.

I've also found Harry's sister Ada Mary, who in 1881 was a music teacher.
She was born in Q1 1861 in Chorlton. Married Q1 1886 in Chorlton to James Broadhurst. She died in Q2 1921, they seem to have had no children either.
