Morning all,

So.... Arthur Charles Edward Bowen born 3 Oct 1905.

Trying to find marriage.

Found -

>>>Bowen Arthur E C Stephens Headington 3a 2710 Scan available - click to view

>>>Stephens Eunice Bowen Headington 3a 2710 Scan available - click to view

Okay - searched the 1939 and found -

Bowen Household (4 People)
48 Napier , Oxford C.B., Oxfordshire, England

Arthur J Bowen 03 Oct 1905 Male House Painter Glazier & Maintenance Foreman Married 155 1
Eunice J Tilsey (Bowen) 05 May 1908 Female Unpaid Domestic Married 155 2
Sorry, this record is officially closed. Check if you can open a closed record.
Garry Bowen 23 Apr 1937 Male Under Age Single 155 4

I hecked the original image and the J is not right, you can see that it's an E.C.
So Arthur married Eunice Stephens - I cannot find where Tilsey comes into this.
I looked to see if Eunice had been married before but I cannot see to find anything.

Just so people don't go looking, I have Arthur's birth and parents details and also him with his mother in 1911.

It's just his wife's name and children I need to find out.

Any help would be appreciated.

That would indicate that Eunice remarried.

When you look at the original image, there is NO update to Eunice's surname.

Thank you PH & RG !

So Eunice was born Stephens and Married Bowen but also died Bowen?

So is Tilsey a mistranscription and should be ignored??

Hi Squeaky

I have just added to my last post.

Perhaps they were involved in some kind of motor accident?

Looking through the records, i think Robert Joseph Bonney was Maureen's father.

How sad!

Dea

Dea Report 2 Jun 2017 11:53

No Squeaky - he probably just left the 'admninistration of his estate' to the in-laws - you will need to get his will to see the full details but the value of the effects would probably have ended up with Una.

Ahh okay Holly, Thanks for that. And thanks Dea,

What a shame, it does look like an accident maybe,

Cassington End - Garry died at the scene and Maureen later died in hospital.

Very sad.
