Just put on the correct surnames for the parents and click ‘find’

Use freebmd to find births between their marriage and leaving the UK. Bear in mind that births during WW11 may Nat have taken place or registered in the areas you would expect.

Hello Again, I have sent for the Birth certificate for Stanley and that is due next week, On the Marriage Cert dated the 08/06/1917 for Grace and Richard she indicates that her Father was a Charles Thomas McGee an Engineer and she was a "Munition worker" this was of course the middle of the 1914/18 war and that Richard was a "Cats Meat Dealer" as was his Father George William i do know that Richard (My Grandfather) was still selling this meat during the WW2.'
It is my intention to apply for the Marriage Cert for Stanley and Dorothy which you have kindly supplied the References for .the next step is to try and establish the names of the Children , any ideas on that would be appreciated.

He used his correct birth name on all records I have found………apart from the record of him as Bridger in 1921, which his stepfather filled in

Just look at the marriage record I posted some days ago………

His physical description comes from a card recording his entry into the USA................see my post on 6th Aug

All the records I have found - apart, obviously, from his birth and marriage, and 1921 census - are only on Ancestry

You are the only person with a Stanley Bridger 1916 with a tree on here. Maybe Erika found the wife ( use maiden name) or the daughters on a tree.

Added: looks like he is a tree under the name Stanley McGee.

petmar Report 9 Aug 2023 10:16

I have tried as you suggested and unfortunately it has come back" No Matches Found" is this is because he lived in America? or possibly his family are not now searching.
How did you find out about Stanley's Height etc?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 8 Aug 2023 18:57

You can only see another member’s tree if you are given access by the tree ‘owner’

I would start by contacting the person I mentioned above….look under the ‘search’ heading at the top of this board, and select ‘search all member trees’. Put in Stanley’s name, then click on ‘Find out more’ against the name of the person with him in his tree. Then simply send a message and hope that he has kept GR up-to-date with his email address….and, of course, that he wishes to have contact.
Good luck

I will try the Freebmd for the children, the 1917Marriage Cert I already have as the 1891 Census of the " Bridger" Family and yes the Richard Bridger Born 1890 is the Husband of Grace.
I am very much on a learning curve as regards to this hobby so the help you have given is very much appreciated
How do I get to see other people's Tree's?

You can find the names of Stanley & Dorothy’s children by looking for their births on freebmd…….just input surnames of parents.

I can’t at the moment see anything for the family after 1960………sorry

A possible course of action would be to obtain a copy of the 1917 marriage cert, in the hope that Grace knew her father………..however, bear in mind that it wasn’t unusual to invent a father for the sake of propriety.

Hello EricaH, Thank you very much for all the info, I did go onto the 1921 Census and obtained the basic info you supplied, Annie ( Ann) was my Mother and she passed away in 1981, she Married my father in1941 ( Donald Carter) when she became Pregnant with me, the Marriage did not last and to cut a long story short she immigrated to America around 1947 ( my father remarried in 1949) Ann came back to the UK in the early 1970s for a holiday with her Adopted Daughter and returned to the UK in1989 as she was not well and could not afford the medical bills in the US.
At know time did she ever mentioned to me that the was a " Half Brother" and I suspect that the Mother( my Granmother) moved out of the home soon after 1921 as Ann new little of her. The other Quest that I wanted to pursue was " Granmother" however I think I am going to find this difficult as her birth place is " unknown".
You gave given me a possible way I could find out by perhaps tracing my " Great Uncle" and his Son . Do you have any ideas the best way to progess this, any assistance would be most appreciated.
