I do hope his family can gain access to this thread and see all the wonderful posts. Many of us did not know him in person, but on here he was well liked and so very helpful.

A sad loss to Genes Reunited.

When I first joined GR, I had absolutely no idea of what I was doing.

I jumped in at the deep end and posted something ridiculous on the Find Ancestors board.

And then I sat and waited, and waited and waited. Not knowing that I had to click back on to my thread to see if I had received any replies.

That is when Jonesey came to my rescue. He didn't patronise me or make me feel foolish........he guided me along and very kindly advised me on the way to go.

His tips were so helpful to me that eventually, i found i had the confidence to help out on the boards.

How wonderful that Jonesey took the time to post his "Tips" threads, so that we can all benefit from his amazing wealth of experience as a researcher.

One of the very first threads i helped on was posted by a lady called Maureen and Jonesey came on the thread.... I said "Hey Jonesey, take a look at me!!"
I was pleased to point out to Maureen that there was a member on here that had her family in their tree.

"Yes Prickles" replied Jonesey........."It's Maureen's tree" :-D (Another lesson learned!)

There was also the time i posted a thread, looking for three middle daughters of an ancestor... and the three young daughter's had disappeared on the following census. The husband had died and that census only showed the oldest and youngest two children.

It was then that Jonesey mentioned the "British Home Children"

I had never heard of the "British Home Children"......and Jonesey gave me lots of links so that i could educate myself!! :-D

It's a bit of long story but.......Jonesey later found the oldest daughter on a passengers ship heading off to Canada.

He then found an incoming passenger ship with that daughter and two of her younger siblings.........then later, the other daughter retuning back to England.

I was absolutely overjoyed that those three sisters were eventually reunited with their Mother. I will always be extremely grateful to Jonesey for persuing that one!

Thank you Jonesey.

From then on i would often refer to him as "My Favourite" and when he posted that funny avatar, my response was........"Jonesey, you sure is ugly"

Such a wonderful, caring man who will be sorely missed on here.

My sincere condolences to his friends and family. <3

Farewell dear Jonesey........."My Favourite"

A Gentle Man and a Gentleman.

Priickles. xxxxx

Tomorrow morning, I am hoping to print off this thread and send it, along with a card, to Mrs Jones and the family. I am sure that they will be comforted by the many kind and caring words expressed by those on the GR boards.

If anyone else wishes to add their condolences, please do so before tomorrow morning if possible. Thanks.

I always called him Davy Jones, as in The Monkeys

He signed off 'Davy'

Shed a few tears yesterday, today am smiling, thinking about the stories he told.

He told me stories about the city I was born in, his paternal ancestors came from the same place

It was only about a month ago that I went searching for headstones of my family and his.......buried in the same section of the cemetery
