I still have my passport issued in 1951. On the cover it says -
"An Australian Citizen by Birth and a British Subject"

I also have the passport issued in 1982. On the cover it says -
"Australian Passport"

My ancestors are a mixed bunch of poor out-of-work-and-desperate to a 'gentleman of means' and also one of His Majesty's Redcoats who came out to colonise the country but yes, we do like to think that our ancestors were convicts because it was those people who got this country going so that it is what it is to-day, in only 220 years.

Sue, you might soon have to change the name of this thread. We seem to be getting a surplus of the cousins on it. It's OK by me as long as they can say "G'day mate" properly.

There is a wonderfully funny poem about Phillip Island, but I cannot find it. Anyone know where it is? Have tried Google.

Well, if we don't qualify..... we'll report the thread for subversion, rascism, anti sommat or whatever... bound to be something we can complain about......

Is the cricket still going on?????? We could wash it out!! If we hadn't done that already... by the way, if it is over, who won??? It's all been going on not 12 miles away from me, but as I can't really see the point in it.... give me a good game of rugby, any day.

Jac... so do I... never ever thought that would help me be an honorary Aussie though!!

Do you think they'll like our rugby songs? I know some of them, too!! I don't mind sharing them!!

Poor Sue - what are you saying about her?
She should be on here by now. I'm here and it's Tuesday where I am. She is not that far from me and usually gets here a lot earlier than I do.

You're all accepted as far as I'm concerned - but it's her thread, so it's her decision. Don't know what the outcome will be after what you have been saying about her.

Yoo hoo, Sue. Are you there?

Daff - it's Plus 9 hours while you have DST - 11 when we have DST - or 10 hours if neither of us has DST. Confusing? That's only on our side of the country. Allen's side is different again.

Edit - Sue, couldn't you put a "strewth" in there somewhere?

Allan Report 13 Jul 2009 23:16

We are 7+ hrs at the moment. AND we have just kicked Daylight Saving Time into touch for ever, or until the pollies decide to give it another go, whichever comes sooner!

Hi SueMaid

I did a complete flip over DST. We came out to WA in 1982 ad had been used to DST from the UK. We thought WA was backward for not having it, but when it was introduced, stone the flamin' crows...as Alf Stewart might say....much too hot in the afternoons and evenings. I became dead set against it

Hi Lynda

OK guys, now we can party...and if everyone in OZ could jump up and down in unison, we might shake a few pommies out of bed

Good afternoon,

'Owyagoinmateorright?

I'm a Qld'er (you can tell from my lack of decorum)!!

Haven't found any convicts in my lot yet, but my great great grand-dad had his watch stolen - the paper says from a bushranger. I think he was just a fellow worker, who happened to be light-fingered and had a gun. Makes for interesting reading anyway!
