Sharron it must be a worrying time at the moment for you and I hope this doctor can help Fred.......Its hard to know what to say to you to try and make you feel better but please know that we all do think of you and Fred .......

You need your rest too and it must be so hard with one eye open and the other closing wanting to get some well earned sleep/rest...

Im not the best with words but as I have said to you before , you are an inspration as to how you deal with yours and Freds situation

Another doctor had to come round tonight with some vitamin K for him because his blood is very thin and I have had to stop his Warfarin.

The first doctor has prescribed morphine for him to take before he is hoisted because he was shouting in pain. The prescription has not yet been delivered but Fred insisted on being put on the commode and he didn't shout when he was hoisted.

I have got some food into him today. An egg yolk, a little bread, a wine gum and a banana. I think he ate some Ready Brek this morning as well.

He is sleeping, just sleep, not coma.

Today he has been more communicative as well.

I don't think I am deluding myself, I accept that he is ninety-four and every day is a bonus but I can still see Fred.

Sharron - the doctor is probably spot on when he says no one knows Fred better than you do, and also of course his mate, I hope that he will continue to make progress and soon be tackling his usual chores - take care <3

Sharron Report 14 Apr 2014 15:55

The doctor came. He mentioned end of life care which I said I did understand was probable because Fred is, after all, ninety- four years old.

He did agree that I know Fred better than anybody and that I was probably not deluding myself when I say that I can see improvements in him.

There is more of Fred in that bed today than there was yesterday. He is more responsive to us today and he has eaten the yolk of a boiled egg and half a banana.

At the moment he is enjoying a wine gum.

He is sleeping today and not flailing about. He gives the occasional groan but I think that is a cough clearing his chest which is not rattling at all today.

I am happy for him to sleep because I think that is when you heal.

Had a bit of a job getting his capsule into him but washed it down with a drop of prune juice because you like to keep the traffic flowing if you can!

He also has his dentures in today because, otherwise, he looks the same at both ends!
