Ann an increase of that much is terrible. If this is your insurance I wold definitely change. Our insurance has increased by almost £45 for this year. It renewed the beginning of Jan. for both building and contents..

Definitely use a comparison site to find a better quote. The premiums have gone up this year, but if you don’t leave, you will pay far more than you need to.

My renewal quote was a huge increase, from £204 to £360. Not 100% but not that far off either.

I urge everybody (not you Florence, £4 a month not worth the bother!) to use at least one comparison site every time, for any insurance renewal, and also look at cashback sites.

Last year for example:-

Home Insurance renewal quote was £360
I switched to Policy Expert, still a major company, for £179.
Saving of £181.

Car Insurance renewal with breakdown cover quote was £381.
I separated the insurance from the breakdown cover:-
Switched insurance to Dial Direct for £277
Breakdown cover £91.
Saving of £13.

In addition, I purchased all 3 via Topcashback and was paid:
Breakdown cover £45
Car Insurance £38
Home Insurance £32

So total saving of £194, and a bonus payment to me of £115.

These sites are all free to use, it's well worth spending an hour or so using them.
