Please please please go back to the old tree.I do not want to go elsewhere.
It really is irritatingly slow.

I would like to see the displayed box for Source enlarged. I know you can put more in it but it might as well be the same width as the Notes box.

PS Don't think of reverting to that old tree with the dreadful colour scheme, inadequate space for birth and death dates, irritating search facility and that required constant scrolling when navigating through it.

i wont be renewing my membership.......after almost 7 years. I cant get my head around this new tree, it looks amatuerish and is difficult to navigate and add/amend/delete data......an option to continue to use the old tree would be good.

does GR ever look at these comments? is so, what are they doing about the comments listed?

I reported all my concerns weeks ago direct to GR, I have just come back off holiday to find nothing has changed, except I cant open my using Mozilla Firefox.

I can open open it using Internet explorer but still get the stark white background that is really hard on the eyes. I am not the only one having this problem. When the new tree was introduced the back ground was ok so why can we not go back to that?

Either bring back the old tree or the old tree option. You might keep some paying customers.

Why so few boxes for details when first adding a new person? To enter place of birth I have to go to the horrid slidey out panel ( I blame Apple Corp for this style over function nonsense). Then I have to save this & then if I want to enter a baptism I can do this but I have save at least 3 times before it works. Does anyone else have to save each time they enter any small detail?

The find existing relations still doesn't work, I informed GR properly & the response was that they have fixed my tree.... missing the point surely.

I agree with previous posts the '70's lady icon is really naff.

With all that blank grey space at the bottom of the main tree page, I would like the option to display more than 3 generations at a time.

Couldn't there just be 26 pages (one for each letter of the alphabet) for the trees shared with me list?

My main issue is that this is where I keep my main tree with all it notes, but I just don't trust GR anymore, I'm worried there might be a catastrophic failure of the whole thing, so I'm transferring it a bit at a time to another site. It's all backed up etc but I feel happier knowing it's on the internet as well.

The new tree has quite a useful view of all the people in the tree.
This would be a whole lot more useful if it could be exported eg to .csv format.

Please remove the slide info feature, and replace with a 'click to access all details feature', as we used to have. The current slide carries very little info, and gets in the way of the tree.

Please ensure that when we want to add details to an individual's profile, that there's ALWAYS a 'save' button at the bottom - which there currently isn't.

And, added to the previous suggestion, PLEASE, get rid of the feature whereby, when you start to type in a name, all people in the tree with a similar name appear in a list. Without selecting any of them, my tree has now cross-linked from my paternal grandfather's side to my husband's maternal grandmother's side via a woman that has now two dates of birth 50 years apart. And the system won't allow me to amend it! I've just got so frustrated that I'm currently moving all the info and tree to another more user-friendly site.

Ever come across the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"?

Well when looking at other peoples tree i=which you had contact with you could put a name at the top of the tree and a list of that name would come straight up, not any more you have to wait ages before you get the complete list especially if the person has thousands of names in there tree.

So come on Genes make trees simple again and quick and easy to search.

Because six months ago this was a good site but the updates you have done makes it a pain to use.

A simple tree and search is a damn sight better than thiss one is now.

So get your act together and tell the people who have messed up this site to earn they keep by taking it back to a simple to use site or you will lose paying members big time.

Genes has a feature called "Hot Match" that was once very popular. It then became more of an irritant than anything else as it delivers many hot matches which were not matches ... finding a real match was like looking for a needle in haystack. I have turned this "feature" off and I suspect so have many others.

Yet another very popular FH site has a similar feature and it actually works with an accuracy of about 70%.

My suggestion is that Gru either (a) gets this function to work properly or (b) removes it all together. It would also be a good idea to only offer matches where the other person had been active on the site in the last 90 days.

Just give us the option of the old tree. That is all many people want!!!!

This new layout does not work! It is virtually impossible to navigate around Far too time consuming, this wasn't what I signed up for when I renewed my subscription.

I click on my tree and immediately ancestors from way back appear and trying to get to my datais impossible!

I certainly won't be renewing my subscription if this new version stays....I will be returning to Tribal Pages which to be honest is FAR superior :-(

Like others I like the LIST Feature in this (new) tree but also, like others, I would like to be able to IMPORT it on/into my computer but if I can't import it I really really really would like to be able to PRINT it.

I would like the vocabulary used to be consistent.
For example, the word DELETE. When the screen displays the list of Hot Matches the heading of the last 'column' is DISCARD. I think it would be better to use the word DELETE as in other cases.
If a word or expression is used it should continue to be used.
Consistency is important - especially as there are so many screens and pop-ups to concentrate upon.

Catherine, the Hot Matches are not deleted, you can recall them if you wish by the View discarded matches button and if you need to you can restore them. I have sometimes wanted to recheck old discarded matches.

Would it be too difficult to make the lines connecting my actual ancestors and descendants thicker or in a contrasting colour?

I am much happier with the new light background than with the old dark blue one... I sometimes made a screen dump and printed it out

I would like the names of Tree Owners in "Hot Matches" to be given fully, not just first names: there are so many Johns, Anns and Margarets!

Compared to some peoples trees mine is not very big but with the new tree I can no longer print it out I get a message saying my printer says the tree is too big and to wait a while and when the software is developed I will be able to print it out. With the old style tree I could print my tree in full and this was really useful to give to family members. I also prefered the horizontal format rather than this new vertical one. Please get this printing thing sorted as I really do want to be able to print my tree out. :-(

At the bottom left hand corner of every page on this site, is a 'Tell a friend' heading. I suggest, GR, that you remove that because, just now, most of us won't exactly be recommending this site!
