My father, Joseph Kilbane, was born in Shraeens, Achill Island, Co. Mayo, Eire in 1931. I would like to hear from any other Kilbanes, or anyone who decends from the Kilbanes, especially those from Achill Island.

Hi Owen
My wife's side of the family KILBANE come from Bollinglanna Co Mayo. Her father was James Kilbane b 1911 His Father was Patrick - Mother Mary (PATTEN) b 1873 died 1956 Achill.
Other children Mary b 1916, Patrick 1910, Michael 1906 Martin 1913 all in Achill. Many buired in the cemetry at Achill Sound. Only Mary is still surviving now Mary MADDEN still in same village. I believe the parents originated from Achill Beg island in the Sound.
