I have just contacted them, as I need a baptism for 1834, and asked if I have to visit. Lady said 'Not at all', she has taken the details over the phone and is going to look for me. They charge 50p for the copy and £5.23 for the search and postage, she is going to email me when she's found it! Brilliant service and a very nice lady on the phone. Even if she doesn't find it, it was worth the phone call. Kim :-))) |

Isn't it nice when people are so helpful? I have had very good and friendly service from both Oxfordshire and Derbyshire Records Offices. I asked for the lookup of a marriage from Derbyshire and just expected the details to be typed out and sent to me, but they also sent me a photocopy of the register entry with signatures. Oxfordshire were even more helpful. Not only did they copy an original will for me because they said that the microfilmed copy has a tiny bit missing off the bottom, but they also found some other family papers and sent them too including a letter written by my ancestor in the early 1800's. I was so thrilled. |
