George Lanning marries Mary Taylor - pre civil registration. George and Mary have several children including Mary Lanning, born in London between 1826 and 1828. Mary dies of fever before 1841. George is living in Westminster in 1841 with most of the children - but no Mary. George marries Rebecca Horsman nee Taylor Rebecca was born in Castle Camps, Cambridge. She had a sister Mary. Yesterday we thought that there was no way we could prove that George had married his deceased wife's sister (illegal at this date) Today Nicky has sent me an 1841 census image from Chorlton upon Medlock (Manchester): Rebecca Horsman 30 Dressm N Clara Taylor 20 Milliner N Mary Laning 12 N The Hallelujah Chorus kicks in as I estimate the odds of a woman providing a home for the daughter of her (5 years in the future) husband if the girl wasn't already her niece. So, thank you, thank you, thank you!
