Thank you that might just be him and possibly found a death now in West Derby 1901. Guna get that death cert and see if it matches the story bot him drowning in Liverpool docks

Thanks alot that`s as much as I`ve managed so far. Family story is that Martin drowned in Liverpool docks can`t find any evidance of that. Also that he worked in custums there but both Robert`s birth and marriage cert name father Martin and he was a merchant sailor on both. only clue there is that he had died before Roberts marriage in 1919.

The late is her name from her first marriage and the formerly is her maiden name.

I have a birth certificate of a Robert Nicholson born 1890 in Cardiff. The name of the
mother is down as Margaret Nicholson late Evans formaly Jones. I know that means she was married before but ain`t sure which is her actual maiden name Evans or Jones? The father is Martin Nicholson who I cant find any trace off at all.
Any info on this matter would be much appreciated.
