Despite the passenger list of them returning to the UK in 1907 I don't see them together on the 1911 England census.

I did wonder if this was Doris and her sister coming to England from New York- they appear to travelling on their own:

Port of Departure: New York, New York, United States

Thanks Dea- I'll delete my 1939 register as your makes more sense!

I see that Gatelady has a tree on Ancestry- no more information has been added re Doris.

Gatelady you have Doris death as 1988, but based on the date of birth from the 1939 register, her death was in 1991:

Name: Doris Pinkney
Birth Date: 6 Apr 1906
Date of Registration: Sep 1991
Age at Death: 85
Registration district: Pontefract
Inferred County: Yorkshire
Volume: 5
Page: 977

I know that Austin has beat me to it yet again and has posted the 1939 but I will post this because it shows exactly where the closed records come within the family and exactly how many there are:

Nunn Household (3 People) 104 Clifford Street , Hemsworth R.D., Yorkshire (West Riding), England

First name(s) Last name(s) DOB Occupation
Amos A Nunn 18 Dec 1885 Colliery Surface Worker - widowed
Douglas Nunn 17 Mar 1919 Colliery Surface Worker
3 more people who are officially closed
Doris Pinkney 06 Apr 1906 Unpaid Domestic Duties
1 more person who is officially closed - this one is a child of school age and I 'think' the surname was Pinkney.
