Can't be sure but if someone else was around it was quite a long time before she had any other children.

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 13 Apr 2015 19:54

How sure are you that George was his?

Not seeing anything that fits for deaths at sea - one comes up but he was born too late and died too early!

if Louis Jensen died at sea - family history says lost overboard - he must have had a seamans ticket or some sort of papers. His last child was born in June 1911 so he must have been around until October 1910.
Cant find any reports of his death in the press or listed on any lost at sea records that I can access.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Have now got a copy of the marriage certificate for Louis and Sarah Eleanor. It confirms that he was born in 1868 as he gives his age as 28 on marriage in 1896.
Sadly no other useful information other than his fathers name given as Soren Jensen a Labourer.

Yes he married sarah eleanor Jackson.
I have ordered the marriage certificate as suggested.
Hopefully it will have his fathers details which may help.
Thanks

Read the post by JoonieCloonie dated 24.4.2014 and that tells you where to order the English certs.

Sorry, don't quite understand the etiquette, thought this was all on the same thread.
I haven't managed to get a copy of the marriage certificate. I live in Scotland and you can see all the records at the national records office in Edinburgh but not sure how you get hold of copies of english records.
Not trying to upset the system my apologies.

Did you ever get a copy of the actual marriage certificate?

The info from that would be useful.

Those of us who helped originally would prefer to keep everything in one place - much easier for all of us :-)

David

David Report 24 Mar 2015 19:56

Because I still haven't managed to find an answer and hoped that someone else may be able to help or that more information is now available a year later.

That would be great, both sides of our family have been pretty dull so far! ;-)

... maybe he ran away from home and joined the circus ...

David

A lion tamer in the family would be much more fun than a sailor!
Thanks for your help, you are an expert!
Jo :-D

There's a chance this article may be about your man:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/keepsafe/asset/details/6544181

It was in the Shields Daily Gazette of 31 December 1894.

There are a number of other articles about a Louis Jensen from Copenhagen but that man was a lion-tamer.

Jo you need to get the actual marriage certificate

(and by the way it can be easier to find information at freebmd ... and it's free :-) )

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

Marriages Jun 1896
Jackson Sarah Eleanor S. Shields 10a 1275
Jensen Louis S. Shields 10a 1275

this is where to order certificates - anywhere else will overcharge for no extra service

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

I did understand you were looking for info about Louis other than his death i.e. his ancestry so I'm glad it seems there may be some info available from what has been posted here, but with his marriage certificate you should have his father's name so you can aim in the right direction to find his ancestry

and actually you want to be sure that is the correct marriage as we can't tell just from the index - although I guess you know that the children's mother was Jackson from birth records or such ? but the certificate will also give his occupation and their ages just to be certain

you say that Sarah married again in 1915 to Andrew Whittle Sibald ... I can't find any Andrew Sibald marriage in the index ... but there is that 1916 marriage I posted above and no other Sarah E Jensen I can see who could be the bride

I also don't see a death for a Sarah Sibald to fit ...

okay, his name was SiBBald ... and grrr she married as Eleanor

Marriages Dec 1915
Jensen Eleanor Sibbald Tynemouth 10b 646
Sibbald Andrew W Jensen Tynemouth 10b 646

Name: Eleanor Sibbald
Birth Date: abt 1877
Date of Registration: Jun 1927
Age at Death: 50
Registration district: Tynemouth
Inferred County: Northumberland
Volume: 10b
