Thank you for checking. I think George may have changed his name to Christopher Bunyan. I found a tree that matches his birth but the tree owner will not reply. :-(

Any BMD events in Scotland really need searching for at SP - a site you need credits for.

GR/FMP probably have his army record - I've not checked.

Thank you Gins and I think I will contact Lloyds of London regarding my grandfather's death. :-)

ArgyllGran Report 21 Dec 2014 22:00

Just to confirm - there's no death for a George or Christopher Bunyan, of approximately the right YOB, in Scotland, 1932-1990
(Per SP)

ADDED: Re the George Bunyan who died in Australia in 1939, either that's not the right one, or else the person who heard he'd been in Scotland in 1945 was mistaken.

To Argyll Gran,

Thank you for checking into death info for George Bunyan. He was born in 1887 due to the original marriage certificate I own. He married Winifred Alwood Bunyan in London. George left Winnie in 1943, she emigrated to Canada. My aunt, Jeanne Bunyan was a war bride and emigrated with her RCAF pilot to Canada. Jeanne visited Britain almost yearly trying to prove George's death for Winnie's pension without success. I think George changed his name to Christopher Bunyan, only Bunyan born in 1887, died in London in 1961 ( no birthdate or census could be found under Christopher) tree owner for Christopher won't respond
