Thanks ArgyllGran - that's him! Thanks for putting it up - I should have done it myself......

Just looking through my records, I don't have him in 1841.

I could swear I found him many years ago, in 1841, as the only inmate in the local Guildhall lock-up, but I cannot find it anywhere. Unless I am going slightly mad!?

Guildhall is located in St. Edmund Steet, Melcombe Regis. (Not Weymouth part of town).

Any clues??

Marcus Report 16 Jul 2023 20:18

Thanks ErikaH, I saw the age as 79 in freebmd, and it is most likely that. Just sometimes it is slightly ambiguous in how it is written down on the actual form!

Also, where in 1861 is he, as I am still looking for him In 1861?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 16 Jul 2023 19:06

Freebmd transcribed his age at death as 79

He’s on 1861 under his initials only

This looks like the one you are looking at from Weymouth Union - It is on Ancestry and gives a different burial date:

William Tizard

in the Dorset, England, Deaths and Burials, 1813-2010

Name: William Tizard
Birth Year: abt 1797
Age: 82
Burial Date: 30 Jan 1879
Burial Place: Wyke Regis, Dorset, England

Either one or other of these is wrong or maybe there were two ?

There 'are' 2 deaths registered:

Deaths Mar 1879
Tizard William 57 Weymouth 5a 252
Tizard William 82 Weymouth 5a 248

I would assume that the 82 year old died before the 57 year old because of the sequence of the page numbers in the reference above, therefore that would appear to be the one from the workhouse buried in the January followed by the 57 year old which would have been the age of the one who was a mariner buried in the March.

The 82 year lt for some reason does not appear on the above Dorchester site but could well be the one you are looking for.

Dea x

P.S. The Dorchester site does have Susan's burial on there and she is given as a widow when she died in 1876 but this doesn't necessarily have to be true, she may just have titled herself that if they had separated.

This is the one in 1879:

Regarding the above 2 with no forenames:

Both of them are recorded as having parents Alfred + Fanny.

Perhaps babies who were not yet named.
