Wonder then if Alice was boarded out as a nurse child or taken on as an adopted child and her name changed

I would think that Alice Amelia was either adopted or taken in by another family and her name was changed.

not sure about this but i think alice amelia died 1n 1894 in poplar but surname is spelt different shelton died aged 1 i have looked for a birth for alice amelia shelton there is none in poplar or any where in the country in 1893 so this must be alice amelia shilston found this on free bdm hope this helps

Thanks Yvonne that looks very likely. Sometimes the name Shilstone gets spelt Shelton and in one census it was spelt Shitstone. That is very sad though I am pleased she did not go out of the family. Think I can close the page on this now
